Polyflor LVT flooring in Ukryte Rzeki Hidden Rivers Restaurant Poland

Polyflor’s Expona Commercial Stone range was installed in the premises of Ukryte Rzeki, which translates to Hidden Rivers, referring to the scenic Jasień River that flows next to the restaurant. The venue itself is completely concealed under the courtyard of the Geyer Gardens and is an inviting and visually striking place for people to come together and enjoy fine fusion dining.

When it comes to creating a warm and welcoming restaurant, it’s vital to consider the functionality of the space, ensuring that customers can relax and enjoy the ambience with their fellow diners, while staff easily circulate the room.

From the entrance, waiting stations and dining zones, to the bar, kitchen, back of house and restrooms, flooring is the hardest working element of a hospitality environment, and the right choice has to be made to balance aesthetics with safety, easy maintenance, cost effectiveness and durability.

Floors in restaurants need to be hard wearing and durable to withstand scratches and scuffs, and be stain resistant, waterproof and slip-resistant. Finally, the ideal flooring product should enhance the interior design aspect of a restaurant, helping shape a mood and atmosphere, while visually separating various areas of a restaurant space to help customers easily find their way around.

Ukryte Rzeki serves creative fusion Polish cuisine which effortlessly combines traditional dishes from Lódź with interesting and unexpected flavour combinations. It’s also home to a bustling cocktail bar and often hosts live music.

The restaurant underwent a major refurbishment in 2022, led by Boko Architects. Located within an industrial building with a ceiling height of 10m, the premises are expansive, so the architectural team opted for an interior which housed smaller, more private zones within it. They also needed to meet the investors’ requirements to create a large hall that could be transformed for events and conferences.

The overall aesthetic in the finished space boasts a strikingly modern interior, which balances brickwork with contemporary tiles, lighting, plants and soft furnishings.

When it came to flooring, the Polyflor Expona Commercial Stone range was recommended to Boko Architects by interior design project advisor Jacek Janus, who had been working for Polyflor’s Polish distributor Polflor Sp. z o.o.

Expona Commercial is a collection of luxury vinyl tiles, that spans a balanced palette of wood, stone and industrial materials, ideal for use in heavy commercial areas. Polyflor’s luxury vinyl tile range doesn’t only provide an extremely wide range of attractive patterns and unique formats, but also guarantees premium quality, high functionality and meets many strict environmental standards. It’s particularly ideal for bars and restaurants as it’s scratch and scuff resistant, effective at reducing sound, and can cope with the demands of heavy traffic in commercial use areas.

The team opted to install Expona Commercial 5094 Arctic Mosaic and 5095 Granite Mosaic in the main hall, dining area and bathrooms – the matte finish and distressed structure of the tiles seamlessly matching the post-industrial vibe. The tiles come in two variants – white with black veins and black with white veins – and work perfectly when used in combination with each other. It’s also easy to cut the tiles when installing to create patterns, allowing the creation of clear zones throughout the premises.

An attractive interior is one of the most important factors contributing to the success of a restaurant, and flooring design comprises a key part of this.

Polyflor is a professional and trustworthy partner for the hospitality industry as it provides modern, high-quality flooring solutions engineered for commercial applications in consumption zones, restaurants, hotels, cafes and bars.

At Ukryte Rzeki, we’ve helped to create a stunning space with the knowledge that our flooring also serves a practical purpose.
